Professional Background
Creating meaningful digital experiences since childhood
Ever since I got my hands on Adobe Dreamweaver at age 10, I haven't stopped designing and building for the web.
I made my first website to show my school friends the animations that I was making in Adobe Flash.
Not satisfied with a personal space for my own work, I built an online portal for others to share their animations, games, and artwork, and to improve their craft. I built it in HTML, CSS and PHP. I also built a forum to facilitate discussions, and designed and built a project management tool to help contributors work together on larger projects.
Throughout school and university I crafted websites for student-run businesses and student societies alongside my studies, before making designing and developing digital experiences my full-time career.
After graduating from university, I moved to Australia and worked with digital marketing agencies as a front-end designer I designed and built marketing websites for clients in industries as diverse as business, construction, retail, and more.
Driven by a desire to enact social change, I studied UX design and worked for a number of Australian not-for-profit organisations.
Moving back to the UK, I sought new industries where I could apply my diverse skill set to help others. I worked with a public sector design agency to help citizens access services online; a professional accountancy body; and a health tech company that supports the NHS.
I've had the pleasure of collaborating with many inspiring people who also want to make positive change through technology and am excited to see what the future holds.
Helping others is what inspires me
Nothing is more satisfying to me than showing a customer a prototype and hearing how much it's going to help them.
I feel joy building apps and websites that meet different accessibility needs. I believe that by designing and developing for accessibility in even the simplest of projects, I'm helping to make the world a fairer place.
I also love the intersection between the creative and technical sides of my work. I find it immensely satisfying creating experiences that are as consistent and structured as they are aesthetically pleasing.
Outside of work, I love to dance, paint and hike
Dance
I train in lots of different styles, including Contemporary, House, Commercial, Whacking, Popping and Locking. You'll also find me performing around Edinburgh as part of Community Company X, a contemporary dance company.
Art
I enjoy drawing and painting in watercolours. I'm especially inspired to abstract and surreal art, and love getting lost in the worlds that artists create.
Hiking
Living in Scotland, there's always a new hiking spot to explore. I love venturing out to the West Coast and the Highlands when I can, and closer to home, exploring Edinburgh's hills and winding streets.
